Genius Sleep Aid, your solution for sleepless nights?

Sleeping pills like Genius Sleep Aid – the drugs made by pharmaceutical companies –are seemingly depended on for being the only way to get a good night’s sleep.

Two to three decades ago the average worker found they couldn’t function productively the next day without having taken a sleeping pill the night before.

A man working in an office rubbing his eyes because he is tired at work

And nowadays nothing has changed, as a lot of city workers have been using sleeping pills to help cope with their high-pressure jobs and have a stress-free night’s sleep.

Sleep-promoting drugs work but they carry a baggage most I’m sure your aware of.

Sleep medication provides temporary relief from insomnia.

It’s no secret, many synthetic drugs are addictive and often laden with side effects.

But is trying to makeup for a sleepless night caused by noisy neighbors and nearby traffic, with a large Starbucks every morning really a better solution?

A potentially better solution could be to opt for sleep-promoting supplements like the Genius Sleep Aid.

Here is an opportunity to know more about the Genius Sleep Aid, how the supplement works, the ingredients, and how to buy the sleep Aid.

We also share our take on the Genius Sleep Aid supplement later in the article.

How does Genius Sleep Aid work?

The Genius brand doesn’t believe in going overboard with the formula.

They use a short yet select set of ingredients to help you fall asleep faster and sleep better.

The Sleep Aid supplement has a four-pronged action.

The carbohydrate, herbs, and amino acids induce the brain to release the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA.

The ingredients help calm the overactive brain and relax the body.

The hormone melatonin influences the circadian rhythm to give your body the message – it’s time to sleep.

Stress, anxiety, and the constant worry of personal and professional life can cause insomnia and sleep disturbances.

Even if you manage to fall asleep, the brain and body are under the influence of stress and anxiety, which leads to constant tossing and turning.

After a night of poor sleep, you won’t feel fresh and well rested the next day.

Some of the ingredients in the Genius Sleep Aid alleviate stress and anxiety so you can forget your worries and give the body and mind a few hours of downtime.

It quite hard to sleep when the caffeine you have consumed throughout the day has other plans for the brain.

The Genius brand addresses this issue by including rutaecarpine in the mix.

This ingredient flushes out the caffeine to give other ingredients a chance to calm and relax the brain.

What are Genius Sleep Aids ingredients?

Genius Sleep Aid supplement facts

L-Glycine (1g)

Glycine is an amino acid that supports various metabolic, cognitive, and chemical functions and benefits the body on so many levels.

A research carried out at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has encouraged the belief that glycine has the ability to alleviate symptoms of many ailments including sleep disorders, chronic fatigue, diabetes, arthritis, ulcers, cardiovascular disorders, and kidney failure (1).

Restful sleep at night and adequate energy (physical and mental) to get through the whole day are two essentials for a highly productive lifestyle.

Glycine through various functions promotes quality sleep and energy production.

Glycine acts on the central nervous system to promote calmness and relaxation.

With the dreaded stress, anxiety, and nervousness out of the way, the brain finds it easier to wind down, gradually relax, and slip into a deep slumber.

This attribute of glycine allows you to fall asleep faster and rest longer in bed.

The ingredient’s metabolic functions include transporting oxygen and nutrients into the cells for energy production.

Scientists have found that glycine is involved in the development of heme in hemoglobin (2).

Doing so the ingredient ensures there is a healthy level of red blood cells to move oxygen and nutrients around.

In a study, the researchers at the Japanese Society of Sleep Research have found that the use of glycine improves sleep, reduces fatigue and daytime sleepiness, and boosts memory (3).

The standard daily dose of glycine is about 3 to 5 grams. Glycine is under-dosed in Genius Sleep Aid; only 1 gram of the ingredient is added to the supplement.

L-Theanine (100mg)

L-Theanine is widely known for its consort caffeine.

But, on its own, L-Theanine is a potent supplement with many health benefits.

The Genius Sleep Aid supplement contains the patented form of the amino acid – TheaKalm – manufactured by Suanfarma.

L-Theanine is a non-essential amino acid present in most commonly taken foods. This amino acid is similar to glutamine but has a quite different effect on the body.

While glutamine – a glutamate precursor – helps in the production of the excitatory neurotransmitter, the ingredient l-theanine has the opposite effect; it calms and relaxes the mind and body.

L-Theanine – the amino acid present in green tea – is known to prevent and treat multiple symptoms and disorders.

Most people take green tea just to gain the benefits that l-theanine has to offer.

The amino acid fights insomnia and improves sleep quality by acting on nerve impulses and supporting the production of the neurotransmitter GABA.

L-Theanine also helps to generate alpha brain waves (4).

These functions naturally help the users to relax and stay free of anxiety and stress (both are sleep killers).

To boost its sleep-promoting properties l-theanine is often stacked with melatonin.

The standard dose for this stack is about 100-200 g of l-theanine with 3 g of melatonin.

The Genius Sleep Aid supplement contains 100 mg of L-Theanine (as TheaKalm).

Rutaecarpine (100mg)

Rutaecarpine is extracted from a type of berry – evodia fructae.

The berry Evodia Fructea

The ingredient Rutaecarpine might be new to many people, but it’s a common name in Chinese and Korean traditional medicine.

Moreover, those familiar with the Genius brand would know that most Genius products contain this ingredient.

Rutaecarpine is used in the Genius Sleep Aid to reduce the effects of caffeine.

We’re creatures of habit, and for most of us, a cup of coffee is often connected to our hand in the morning and is as important as the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat.

We don’t think for a moment the impact of caffeine on sleep.

In addition, caffeine is also present in soft drinks, energy drinks, and several commonly eat foods.

Without even knowing it, you might be taking too much caffeine, which leads to insomnia, poor sleep, and sleep disruptions.

The ingredient Rutaecarpine is added to Genius Sleep Aid to nullify the effects of caffeine.

The berry extract creates a barrier between the body and caffeine.

It speeds up the metabolism of caffeine and reduces its absorption by the body.

In a study, the use of rutaecarpine reduced caffeine levels in rats (5) (6).

In traditional medicine, evodia rutaecarpa is often prescribed to warm the body.

The thermogenic property of the ingredient can help you sleep during the winter season.

Inositol (100mg)

Inositol is carbohydrate with chemical structure just like glucose.

It is used in the Genius Sleep Aid to promote sleep by reducing stress, anxiety, and depression.

Inositol impacts these functions by regulating the neurotransmitter serotonin.

Studies show that inositol is quite effective in dealing with serious mood disorders such as panic attacks and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

In a study, the researchers found that daily use of inositol by 20 participants brought down the weekly panic attack numbers quite significantly as compared to the group that took anxiety reducing drugs (7).

In another study, the same daily dose – 18g – improved symptoms in participants with obsessive-compulsive disorder (8).

There is scientific evidence to show inositol has a strong synergistic relationship with melatonin (9).

To treat mood and behaviour problems, the standard dose recommended by experts in about 12-18 g.

When inositol was stacked with melatonin, the daily dose of inositol administered was 4g.

As you can notice, the Genius Sleep Aid contains only 100mg of inositol.

Melatonin (0.5mg)

Finally, we come to the most important ingredient of the Genius Sleep Aid Supplement.

Melatonin is many things rolled into one; it’s a potent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and neuroprotectant.

Assume our body to be a very sophisticated machine; even the smallest of its components have a significant role to play.

Melatonin and its point of origin – the pineal gland is a good example.

The brain needs adequate rest to maintain efficiency.

The petite pineal gland acts as the reminder service releasing melatonin that reminds the brain it’s time to wind down, relax, and get ready for bed.

There has never been any doubt about Melatonin’s ability to promote sleep.

There is ample scientific material to show how taking this supplement can Aid sleep quality.

Sleep.org says sleep quality includes the following:

  • Sleeping 85% of the total time in bed
  • Falling asleep in 30 minutes or less
  • Waking up no more than once per night
  • Remaining awake no more than 20 minutes before falling asleep

A simple analysis of about two dozen studies validates the long-held belief that supplementation of melatonin can help you sleep faster, improve sleep quality, and treat jet lag (10) (11) (12) (13) (14).

The Genius Sleep Aid contains 0.5mg of melatonin, while the lowest recommended dosage for promoting sleep is 3g per day.

How to use Genius Sleep Aid?

For a good night’s sleep take one serving (two capsules) of Genius Sleep Aid every day.

The makers suggest cycling the supplement to avoid tolerance buildup.

The manufacturers recommend a 5:2 on/off cycle (consume the sleep Aid for five days in a row and take two days off).

You could achieve more, and look for better results, by stacking the Sleep Aid with other Genius products.

Along with restful sleep, if you’re looking to build muscles then stack Sleep Aid with Genius Protein.

To get the best results, take one serving of each supplement – Genius Sleep Aid and Genius Protein – half-an-hour before you sleep.

Who Makes Genius Sleep Aid?

Founded by Robert Oliver, the Genius brand aims to unlock our inner genius.

The Genius brand was born out of necessity – that’s what the founder of the brand is saying.

The maker claims the brand is a diamond among a lump of coal.

The company aims to redeem the lost glory of the supplement industry by producing supplements that use the best formula and the purest of ingredients to deliver the results that it promises.

The founder says, while other supplement manufacturers focus only on making a profit, Genius aims to make products that unlock our hidden potential and be the best version of ourselves.

The brand website claims, in their short history of 13 years, they have sold millions of servings to customers in 30,000+ cities.

The Genius Sleep Aid isn’t the only supplement the company is making.

The Genius product line includes supplements for weight loss, energy, beauty, pre-workout, post-workout, intra-workout, muscle growth, and more.

How to buy Genius Sleep Aid?

A good place to purchase your bottle of Genius Sleep Aid is from the brand’s own e-Store.

Each bottle of the sleep Aid supplement contains 40 tablets (20 servings) that cost $24.99.

To ensure the customers get the best quality products the makers use elite formulation and make the supplements in the labs that maintain the highest quality standard.

Non-Habit Forming: The Genius Sleep Aid contains pure, high-quality, mostly trademark ingredients that are natural, drug-free, and non-habit forming.

The Genius Promise: Unlike many other supplement makers, the manufacturers of Genius Sleep Aid do not hide behind a proprietary blend.

All Genius products are third-party tested.

Our Verdict from our Genius Sleep Aid Review:

Sleep impacts every facet of life, from behaviour to the performance at the office.

There shouldn’t be any half measures here, the sleep aid you choose must make you fall asleep faster and feel refreshed and energetic the next day (so you don’t need that Starbucks), it must be consistent, and aid sleep night after night.

Unfortunately, Genius Sleep Aid does not deliver the results we expect.

There have got the formulation and dosage of each ingredient wrong.

Let’s start with the biggie – the ingredient melatonin is clearly under-dosed.

A dosage of 0.5mg is not even close to the minimum recommended daily dose of 3g.

The Genius Sleep Aid has a couple of ingredients that work well with melatonin.

Perhaps the makers were betting on their synergistic effect to boost the supplement’s effectiveness.

There too, the Genius Sleep Aid disappoints big time.

For example, the average dose of Inositol used in several studies is about 12-18g.

The amount of inositol included in Sleep Aid doesn’t even come close to the standard dose.

While the founder claims the Genius brand is nothing like other supplement makers, the company uses the same black-hat marketing tricks that others use.

The positive feedback on the brand’s website and third-party e-retail portals like Amazon are not totally genuine.

The brand promises discounts and free samples, to its customers, in exchange for positive comments.

Final Thoughts from our Genius Sleep Aid Review

If someone asks me to give reasons why he/she must take the Genius Sleep Aid supplement I would be totally lost for words.
